SARAH JANE SCOUTEN

Sarah Jane’s modern and dynamic approach to classic folk and country music has been nominated for three Canadian Folk Music Awards, a Western Canadian Music Award and an International Folk Music Award (presented by Folk Alliance International) as well as much international acclaim. Sarah Jane and her band, typically a four piece including electric and acoustic guitars, upright bass and drums, have toured extensively throughout Canada, the USA, the UK and Europe, performing at festivals such as MerleFest, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Calgary Folk Music Festival, Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival and Maverick Music Festival in the UK. She has shared the stage with Martha Wainwright, The Strumbellas, Martin Carthy, Sam Lee, Jimmie Dale Gilmour, and has opened for Corb Lund, Ron Sexsmith, The Sadies and William Prince.

2018 was a busy year in the wake of Sarah Jane’s widely-received album When the Bloom Falls From the Rose, released in 2017 on Light Organ Records. The band will be going into the studio in November to record a new full-length with producer Andre Wahl (Hawksley Workman, Jill Barber, Luke Doucet) album for release in June 2019.
